human skull without lower jaw, dark brown patina, in flat relief ornamental decorated with curvilinear hook-shaped motifs: oval compartment on the forehead, continued by concave struts, marking the middle of the skull, flanked by symmetrical arranged ornaments; in former times some of the Dayak peoples were dreaded headhunters, who used to keep the skulls of enemies and display them in their naves. For the Dayak warrior headhunting was a proof for virility. According to their animist belief

light brown wood, dull patina, a post, circular in cross section, carved with a sitting figure, both hands resting on the bent legs, a flattened oval face with the eyes arranged close to each other, flanking a narrow nose, a rectangular mouth underneath, crowned by a small knob-like headgear, strong traces of weathering, lichen in some places, insect caused damage, on base; post figures had different functions: they were "guardians of the village" designed to ward off malicious spirits and protect against epidemics, a likeness of a servant destined to serve the dead in the next world, or an effigy of the deceased himself.
