brass, dark partly encrusted patina, a kneeling male figure with the hands resting on the bulging belly with elaborate incisions, surmounted by an oval head with tribe-typical facial features and a high tapering headgear, slight traces of corrosion, on base; "onile" figures may appear in pairs. They are called "owner of the house" resp. "father and mother, owner of the house". "House" means the building in which the members of the "ogboni" society stay and were these figures are kept.

wood, blackish brown patina, kaolin, redwood powder, helmet-shaped, voluminous forms, disc-shaped coiffure with stylized spider motif, big oval eyes underneath curved eyebrows, flanking a bulky nose, an opened mouth with whitened teeth underneath, pierced around the rim, min. dam., fissures, on metal base; the spider motif is widely spread in the Grasslands of Kamerun. The spider is a symbol for wisdom and plays an important role in truth telling.
