wood, red and dark brown patina, identical formed bodies with round shoulders and handle-shaped arms, crowned by narrow heads with high-towering pierced coiffures, eyes with lowered lids and framing eyelashes, strings with coconut discs, the bodies strongly encrusted with camwood powder "osun", traces of indigo blue pigment (coiffure), slightly dam., missing parts (breasts); as the Yoruba believe that twins have a combined, inseparable soul, the moment one of the twin dies, the life of the other is immediately imperiled, because the balance of his soul is seriously disturbed. Therefore an artisan is ordered to carve a small wooden figure to serve as new abode for the soul of the deceased. The "babalawo" performs the traditional ritual of transferring the soul into the wooden figure. They are called "ere ibeji". The Yoruba word "ibeji" means "twin", "ere" = "sacred image".

wood, reddish brown patina, black paint, encrusted with camwood powder, min. remains of indigo blue pigment, arms in flat bows with the big hands resting aside the thighs, the head with broad jaw and flat chin carved with a tapering mouth, crowned by a high tapering coiffure, vertical incised scarification marks on abdomen and back, breasts and shame accentuated, slightly dam., paint rubbed off; Igbomina names a tribe with Ila Orangun as capital, which, along with - Abeokuta, Oshogbo and Ekiti - forms one of the most important centres of traditional Yoruba wood carving.

wood, reddish brown patina, encrusted with camwood powder "osun", indigo blue pigment (coiffure), a male and a female figure, showing nearly identical bodies with free carved arms arranged in flat bows, elongated heads with tapering mouth and high towering crested coiffures, incised eyelashes, pupils with inserted nail heads (the right one missing in each case), incised scarification marks on the cheeks, slightly dam., minor missing part (mouth of the female figure)

wood, reddish brown patina, encrusted with camwood powder, remains of black and indigo blue pigments (coiffure), voluminous, handle-shaped arms with both hands resting aside the thighs, crowned by a narrow elongated head with tapering mouth and grooved coiffure in four lobes, big eyes with pierced pupils, lancet-shaped scarification marks aside, strings with coconut discs and miniature glass beads, slightly dam.; in the style of the Igbuke family of carvers. The typical marks on the abdomen and the grooved ornamentation running around the base are easily recognizable.
