wood, black patina, helmet-shaped, carved with a small mask face, eyes with trapezoid pupils, long horns/ears, a half-circular flattened beard, slightly dam., minor missing parts (head, left face half), missing parts through insect caused damage (lower rim), on base; the "agasa" mask is supposed to radiate physical strength, spirtual courage, status and religious leadership. Typical features of "agasa" are the beard and the two erect protrusions which are sometimes referred to as ears and sometimes as hunting knives. They appear during night-time gatherings where in special songs abuses and corruption in the community are fiercely criticized.

wood, polychrome paint, showing the body of a pregnant woman, emphasized female sex characteristics and navel, dam., cracks, missing parts, slight traces of abrasion, on metal base; accessory to a "gelede" masquerade costume. "Gelede" mask dancers are always young men, even if they have to play the part of women. The difference between the sexes is emphasized in the costumes and dance steps.

wood, dark brown patina, oval bowl-shaped spoon, the short handle carved with a bearded head, slightly dam. (eyes, nose, ears), missing parts (rim at the bottom), paint rubbed off; such spoons are signs of wealth, because only people who could afford rich and manifold food owned such elaborate carved spoons. They were also used to sacrifice the ancestors to ensure their favour and protection.

iron, brass, handle and hook-shaped ending, each decorated with a human head, connected by an iron staff, traces of corrosion, on base; used for making "edan" staffs. Decorated examples, like the present, served as dignitary staffs of the blacksmith's legitimating them as messengers.

wood, encrusted brown patina, remains of kaolin and animal hair, collection number "73559" on the rear, pierced around the rim, min. dam., rep., missing parts, traces of insect caused damage, on base; one of the most dangerous and ferocious Bamileke masks, just used on occasion of big festivities. During the perfomance the mask was fixed by ropes and sprinkled with water in order to calm its aggressiveness. "Kungan" is a kind of religious society, led by nine priests, responsible for healing and truth telling.
