wood, blackish brown patina, pointed ears, projection at the back of the head with delicate incised linear decor, metal loop for support, bobbin missing, old collection number backside "B 92", slightly dam., paint rubbed off, rep. (both ears), on plate; heddle pulleys belong to the weavers and were passed on as appreciated heirloom within the family. Because of their private character, the weaver is allowed to define their form on his own. The weaver who uses traditional methods employs so-called heddle pulleys to guide his cotton thread.

wood, brown patina, red, black and white pigment, the child is arranged crossways on the womans lap, the bodies are formed homogeneous: the thighs are elongated and the feet are disproportionately large, the mothers feet are carved with shoes, even the regular faces are homogeneous, facial features and coiffures elaborate worked, slightly dam., rep. (left thigh of the female, stool); Baule classification for sculptures such as this is "waka sran", literally "person of wood".This sculpture would be appreciated for its aesthetic qualities, with phrases such as "o e fe" ("it is pleasing"); "o ti klanman" ("it is beautiful").

wood, red, white and black paint, disc-shaped face, crowned by curved horns, raised eyes with painted pupils and drop-shaped framing, min. dam., traces of insect caused damage and abrasion; according to the Baule, these masks do not represent any particular animal, though the horns can be identified as antelope horns. They are worn with an animal skin on the dancer's back, invariably that of a goat in the case of this junior mask. Other masks in the "goli" series wear the skins of larger, more imposing bush animals. "Kplekple bla" is the first to appear, and is worn by the least experienced of the dancers since it has the lowest status of the group.

Ivory Coast, Baule

wood, black partly encrusted patina, red and white paint, helmet-shaped, drilled holes around the rim, min. dam., minor missing parts, traces of abrasion; "bonu amwin" means "god of the woods". This mask of high authority belongs to the "do" secret society. This mask was greatly feared, it was a powerful force for averting harm and maintaining order in the community. Each village had at least one. Women were rigorously excluded from all performances and were not permitted to see the mask. Should a woman see one even by accident, it was said, she is doomed to die.

They are decorated with motifs taken from the ancestral cult or tribal symbols. However, heddle pulleys do not embody ritual meanings.
