wood, shiny brown patina, pokerwork, standing, the arms worked close to the body, a broad, flattened head with pointed chin and scarification marks on the cheeks, min. dam., fissures, on block-like base; the Holo are a small ethnic group, living in the borderland between Zaire and Angola. In the course of their history they were exposed to various influences. The Pende crossed their realm, the Kongo introduced the sacred kaolin and their masquerades are adopted from the Yaka.

wood, partly shiny dark brown patina, of oval, flat form, pierced eyes and mouth, min. dam., minor missing parts, fissures, slight traces of abrasion; the Hunde are a small ethnical group living to the northwest of Lake Kivu. Their masking tradition combines the Kumu and Lega styles. Their society system is organized by the "mbuntsu" society. Masks like the present one should indicate a high ranking member of the "mbuntsu" society.

wood, polychrome paint, of oval form, the whole facial plane divided in rectangular compartments of different paint, pierced around the rim, min. dam., minor missing parts, traces of insect caused damage and abrasion; Ituri is called a rain forest region, the home of various ethnical groups. Their mask types show great stylistic similarities, so that it can be talked about one stylistic region.

wood, dark brown patina, necklace of blue glass discs, cylindrical body with thin handle-shaped arms, incised tattoos on the belly, a cascade-like coiffure, slightly dam., minor missing parts, paint rubbed off, on pedestal; the Kanyok today are located in the oriental province of Kasai. Their sculpture is mainly known for its anecdotical "genre", pieces representing people in various postures, such as woman at work, embracing couples or prisoners etc.

wood, dark brown patina, half figure of simple clear-cut form, a prominent long beard with incised lines, a cavity filled with magical mass on the head, slightly dam., missing parts, crack, on block-like base; aside big ancestor figures, which are quite rare, the Kasongo mainly produced small magical figures. These could be attached to spears or inserted in calabashs or baskets.
