Invitation card to the tribal art Auction on 4 March at Zemanek-Münster, Charm Admiralitys Islands

The Tribal Art auction will begin with an extraordinary talisman from the Admiralty Islands, with two further private collections and numerous other topics.

The 85th Tribal Art Auction on 4 March in Wurzburg will present classic, traditional and unusual objects. We will start with art from Oceania and the South Seas, to which this extraordinary, extremely rare and superbly worked talisman, formerly owned by Edith Hafter, Solothurn, belongs.

The Ethiopian collection of Sachau-Zeies is a mirror of  the various cultural styles of areas influenced by the Middle East. The stone stelae from the 11th to the 17th century and masterly made ikons and crucifixes from the 12th to the 18th century belong to this group.

The second part of the Rielau collection also exemplifies why this collection is so special. Small special collections within a collection, including a small group of maternité figures, that are wonderfully varied and artistically sophisticated.

Other focal points on offer are masks and sculptures of Gabon's cultural regions, an important collection of gold jewels from the Akan, as well as small but monumental seeming sculptures from Cameroon, such as the 'mu-po' figurines.
