wood, encrusted dark brown patina, male/female, one behind the other, simple and crude forms, but expressive in effect, min. dam., fine cracks, small missing parts, base;
very little is known about the Kaka. Their figures are characterized by a great individuality in style. The objects known so far are mostly covered with a thick patina of soot. Possibly present figures represent ancestor effigies, for ancestor veneration has a place of prime importance for the Kaka. It is supervised by "wantop", one of the members of the chieftains counsel, within the framework of the liturgies of the "mbir" male secret society.
