brass, iron, leather, handle in from of a stylized human figure, elaborate leather sheath with tassels, min. dam., slight traces of usage and corrosion, base. The sword designs of the Tuareg unmistakably show similarities to those of the European Middle Ages. Possibly they owe their origin to Crusades, or to the captured weapons of sea pirates, which were then traded and eventually brought southwards.
