wood, slightly shiny blackish brown patina, abundantly decorated with raised scarification marks, elaborate fine grooved coiffure, slightly dam., cracks, base.
Representing the female ideal in Baule culture. Elaborate coiffure and scarifications are signs of beauty. The extremly strong thighs should be a hint that she works hard on the fields and that her house never runs short of water and firewood.
