A comparable fetish object with multiple figures was auctioned on the 1st of December in 1983 at Sotheby's New York (lot 52).
"Bochios" are guardian figures disposing of protective forces by attracting potential danger and keeping it away from the people. Vodun "bocchios" are "charged up" by a vodun and are directly dependent on the power of that certain Vodun for their effect.
