wood, painted in black, red and white pigment, accentuated eyebrows and cheeks, incised scarification marks, rep. (right ear), min. dam., small missing parts, cracks, slight traces of abrasion, base; the Bindji are well known for their elaborate carved pipes and their powerful helmet masks "tshibangabanga" which are very similar to the "bwoom" masks of the Kuba. They are worn by the master of initiation camp.
