This sculpture shows the posture and physiognomy characteristic for ancestor figures of the Congo region.
Its simplified, rather coarse formal language, together with asymmetrical moments, creates a highly expressive overall effect.
Traces of a sticky black sacrificial patina at the head but also on the body indicate a rich use of the figure in the cult.
