Schwab remarked on this object:
"Forest spirits and bush goblins invade the villages at night and do all kinds of mischief. When a magician priest determines that such a spirit possesses a villager, he orders the carving of a "blolo" figure as a dwelling place for the bush goblin. If the figure is then regularly fed with rice, the spirit calms itself and the disturbances stop".
