Under the aspect of the irritation of eyesight and behavioral habits, he began to work with glass mirror deformations in 1969. In 1979, three-dimensional mirror objects and glass mirror torsions were created. In 1982 he dealt with the primal phenomenon of polarity. Bonato received various prizes, among others in 1993 the August Macke Medal in Bonn. He lives and works in Niederkassel.
