Werner Nöfer studied at the Folkwangschule in Essen and at the Staatliche Hochschule für bildende Künste Hamburg. From 1979 to 2000 he was a professor in the design department of the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts. He lives in Hamburg and Oberndorf.
Nöfer developed his characteristic colourful visual language as early as the 1960s.
