This figure belongs to the type of the sad "bateba" - "bateba yadawora". For despite the fragmentary condition it is still recognizable that a hand is placed on the chin. A gesture which the Lobi regard as an expression of deepest grief and which can be observed at funerals and in other situations of suffering.
