Figure masculine debout "kandimbong"

This particularly beautifully executed, relatively small figure shows a
strongly elongated, beak-like nose, an indication that it embodies less
an ancestor and more a spirit being.

Generally, figural sculpture is referred to by the term "kandimbong" throughout the Lower Sepik and Ramu River region. Such small figures in particular, are called "gai'masok" according to information Craig received from a member of the Murik in 1983.

Present figure may have once formed the end piece of a paddle.
